Has anyone had any luck with using Curcumin for their PSC. I would like to try it but am a little hesitant about possible side effects.
Curcumin is a natural herb made derived from the Ginger family. It is highly used in asian countries as a food supplement. The other name for it is turmeric powder. It is a natural anti-inflammatory herb and hence will help reduce internal inflammation. Look it up on the net for more info. There are no side effects for it. However as for all food types one needs to take it in moderation. I take about 1/2 spoon with water everyday. You also get it in capsules (organic) - check at a good natural foods store. Hope this helps.
Thanks Mike, I''ve been doing some research on it and they have done a few studies where turmeric has helped to reduce PSC flareups..mild stomach upset seems to be the only side effect. Sounds like the herb could be helpful...Thanks again...Dave

I take a curcumin supplement twice a day. I believe it helps but it is difficult to say for sure because I take many supplements and adhere to a gluten-free, dairy-free, and processed food free diet.
Actually, Mike, there are some rather nasty possible GI side effects from curcumin, including nausea and vomiting. Read this for more information: http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ijc.24967/pdf

Dudeplex, could you tell us more about your supplements and may be a little bit about any results (less flares, better fibroskan results or anything...)
We will be very grateful and glad to hear about any good results!
