Vancomycin gut and anxiety/depression?

Hi all,

There is strong evidence of the sustained remission of the PSC/IBD under Oral Vanco. Does anyone know if there is any link between the Microbiome of a gut under Oral Vanco and anxiety/depression? In other words would Oral Vanco have an impact on the mental health via changes in the intestinal microbiota?

Thanks,
Daniela

Daniella,

I know this doesn’t answer your question, but I thought you might find this information interesting.

Researchers have discovered that several antibiotics are efficacious in the treatment of schizophrenia.

Also, Several antipsychotics have been found to have antibacterial properties.

I think we are discovering more and more that microbes in the environment truly have an impact on the mind/body connection. The link below discusses how a study published in a peer reviewed journal provided evidence that 1/3 of psychiatric patients exhibited signs of lyme’s disease.

Thanks very much,

Daniela

I have read some studies where vanco even helping autistic kids respond a lot better in short courses.

Hmm…Very interesting, in particular the first article. The SCD (Specific Carbohydrate Diet) was also proven to dramatically improve symptoms in autistic kids. And the SCD diet does change the microbiome. I would say that we know more about the Universe than we know about the Microbiome.
Thanks very much, interesting reading.
