What about medicare and liver transplant in the USA? Anyone have any experience with that?

My transplant took place 4 days after I became Medicare eligible and nearly 4 years later I have spent practically nothing out of pocket.Had the transpant taken place 5 days earlier I was told it would have cost me nearly 20% of the cost of the procedure. Prior to turning 65, I had no insurance at all. My suggestion is to talk to the insurance people at the hospital that would perform the surgery. They were extremely helpful at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago. They made a huge difference. Hope this helps.
