New transplant

Hi Doug,

Congratulations and welcome to the transplant family. I have the same incision mark. Prior to my transplant i was informed the incision is called a Mercedes incision. After my transplant i joked with my surgeon why it did not look like a Mercedes symbol and he replied i got carried away and changed the symbol to a Chevy
I hope you are doing well and wish you all the best.

Happy holidays.
Mike.

Thanks Mike. Whatever it is, I’ll take it. I had an old vertical scar there and he recut that, so that’s pretty good too. I’m just amazed by it all!

Merry Christmas to you and your family as well.

Doug

Doug, checking in to see how you are doing.
Jeff

Your scar is different then mine. I guess it depends on the hospital or the doctor performing. I transplanted last October, almost a year, in Toronto. Fantastic team and my husband calls the hospital a miracle factory. So many patients unfortunately need organs and they are one of the best facilities in the world. My scar resembles a Mercedes Benz symbol and told my husband I need a Benz to match my scar. I’m still waiting… Hope you’re doing well and staying safe during these crazy times.

Smittysgirl, have you also told your husband that he can’t say no to you since you are now on anti-rejection meds?

Hi Jeff. Sorry, I’m just seeing this. I’m doing really well, thank you. I had a rough time a year ago but it has resolved. Hepatic stenosis had occurred and let an infection get going in the new liver as well as damaging the bile ducts a bit. Angioplasty, a stent, antibiotics and time and I’m a new man.

I hope that you are thriving as well.

Doug

Congratulations on your transplant. I expect that you’re right on scars. Mine is looking much better, but it is a scar that we totally earned and we shall wear them with pride.

I’m not much of a Mercedes guy, but good luck with that.

Best wishes for your continued health.

Doug

Doug, my liver is firing on all cylinders. Such a nice feeling.
Glad you got over that hump.
Jeff

Doug, how are you doing these days?
Jeff
