Thank you. I was also staying in the same ER (never got a regular room) that was where all the shooting victims were brought from the movie theater. Care was, you might say, subpar, not its usual. Highly stressful.
why did you go to the hospital? I have my next clinical appt on monday.. I feel my LFTs , enzymes , & billirubin is elevated... I scared, I don't know what's going to happen... I'm confused.. I guess I'm just having a moment...

Sorry, Congagirl, I just got out of the hospital from a nightmare stay, and I didn't realize or mean to come across that way. Very sorry.

Crixus,
I developed terrific belly pain for no apparent reason. I thought if I laid down I could just sleep it off. But I never could go to sleep because of the waves of pain that kept coming. I've had belly pain before and had to go to the ER for that, but this one was new. Turns out my liver numbers were "better than they've ever been," according to my doctor. My alk phos was 163 and even 150 on one test. It was crazy. I don't know what caused the belly pain, but I had a miserable time at the hospital because it took me 6 hours of waiting to be seen by a doctor. Then I got good care by a great nurse and a paramedic, and then the Horror Nurse showed up and she was a real nightmare. I am reporting her to the Director of Nursing and the Patient Advocate's office. One thing I know she did, which was reprehensible, was not to report to my doctor that I had a migraine and needed Imitrex injectable (because I was already throwing up). My doctor was shocked by that. She never would have let me suffer like that. Here's the odd part - I was at Univ. of Colorado Hospital where the next night after I was "admitted" (just to another part of the ER), the shooting victims from the movie theater were brought. That staff at that ER, which normally provides stellar care, were hit pretty hard. I left the hospital after having a CT scan which showed no problems (obstructions or otherwise) in my belly. Crixus, if you are admitted for elevated test results, you would go straight to a floor. But I would be surprised if you were admitted. Unless you are having chills and fever and show signs of cholangitis, they would probably manage whatever is going on at home. Either way, don't worry about it. I have had many ER visits and most of them go rather smoothly if a hepatologist is involved.
Dana,
Wow that sounds like a crazy hospital visit. I do know most these hospitals are working on a skeleton crew because they are cutting their budgets , which the 1st place they go is cutting LABOR. Which does not make any sense to me. Over working your crew makes them disgruntal, which will seep off in the care they give to others, not all but some. Thank you for the encouraging words about my levels all this is new to me, everyday is a learning experience about this rare disease.
Crixus
Yeah, Crixus, don't worry. By the way, hospital ERs are rated Level One, Two or Three Trauma Level Centers. This one (UCH) is a Level One Trauma Center and they don't cut staff there. They have to meet certain criteria to maintain that Level One status. I have always gotten top-notch care there, no matter what. That's why I'm reporting the Horror Nurse - she doesn't belong there and I'm going to out her to the Dir. of Nursing and the Patient Advocate office. You'll be fine. Do check on ratings of the hospitals you go to. It makes a BIG difference.
Dana
Dana,
You are so right, thanks for giving me another way of looking at my levels. So far my care w/ the hospital Piedmont Hospital has been TOP NOTCH.. and my GI doctor has been good. I am going in for my appointment tomorrow w/ my GI doctor which will be my first visit since my colonoscapy. But he did start me on medicine for my UC already.
