My journey

Hello, My name is for now is Huff. I am 21 years old and I was Diagnosed with Auto-immune Hepatitis and PSC when I was 17. This struck my family hard after we lost 3 of my closest family member. I'm not sure if there can be a cause for this, but I now when the body is stressed it can get confused. I am extremely blessed in my life and though its tough with this condition, It has made be who I am. I have had some luck with mitigating my symptoms and I am currently a health guy, all things aside. My numbers are stable(for now) and Im just here to find answers and help anyway I can.

Welcome to the community Huff!

It's never nice knowing that more people are being affected by this disease every day but nonetheless you've come to the right place. I, like you, only found out recently about PSC (having already had UC for sixteen years) and I remember being in a daze for about a week.. not really knowing who to share the news with etc. Googling just made things worse initially. But then I joined the forum here and I have to say it's reassuring to know we're not alone. Everyone is very supportive here. Yes this disease varies from one person to another but by no means is it the end of the road.

Stay positive, stay healthy and if you have any questions then please feel free to ask! Best wishes!

Hi Huff,

Concern for your family, knowing that stress can make a disease process worse and being a grateful person are three indicators that you have your head on straight and will win the PSC battle. I have been on this blog since its formation. My PSC was cured when I got a liver transplant in 2012. Every year they are making scientific advancements about PSC, and surgical procedures are getting better, too. If you have not done so already, look up www.pscpartners.org This is the organization that helped me meet people with PSC in person.

Good luck,

Paul
