So I have been learning a lot about PSC. One thing I have not been able to find is, what is to be expected health wise after a transplant (assuming all goes well with that)?

Thanks for your post. Regarding your question about life after transplant. All things being equal and you have no complications with the transplant, life will return to normal in less than 6 months. It will be a gradual process and you will feel you are able to return to normal activity sooner than you should. This is a major major surgery and there will be restrictions of how much you can lift, etc., but you will immediately feel so much better very quickly. I was able to return to light duty work within a month of surgery for a couple hours a day. I then over the next several months increased the amount of time I worked each day and I was back full time 4 months post transplant. The last thing you want to do is sit around after transplant. There’s so much scar tissue that’s forming that you need to walk at least 30 minutes a day to help that and give you back your strength. There are a number of other things I could go into, and if you have specific questions, don’t hesitate to ask. Right now, concentrate on getting ready for transplant and be ready to leave quickly when you get the call. Good luck.

Tsohg, I had what I considered to be a model recovery. The worst part of my recovery was the inability to get comfortable when trying to sleep.
Since my transplant in June, I have had no liver related complications. No nausea, vomiting…For the lack of complications, I am very grateful, for I know there are others who do not have a smooth recovery and post-transplant.
I think that my energy level is maybe 90%.
