Don't know where to start

I have been diagnosed withUC andPsc. My Gastro doc has been my doc however I saw a liver spec. I had a biospy and he wanted to do an ERCP I had had one years before. My Gastro doc says that they can do aan MRCP without th ERCP and get info about the progression of the disease. So far I had that itching that drove my crazy about a year. That was 2 years ago. I have very high ALT EST however my Gastro doc watches the Bilburin levels and he says they are ok. I am tired alot of the time but personally if you have a good Gastro doc stick with him.. I live one day at a time an try to be happy and live my life. I don,t like to think about what might happen. Other people have worst problems I tell myself. Take Care hope you remain

well.

UC and PSC is what I was diagnosed with. What your doctors are recommending sounds familiar. I had all those done. Nothing bad about any of them except the liver biopsy left me tender at the site where they took the sample. If you have itching and/or elevated ammonia levels, ask about taking Lactalose. I got through 12 years with PSC. My UC was in remission the whole time. I have a liver transplant now and life is good. Colonoscopies every year because of UC.

Hi Di. I was just reading over your post from March and wondered how you are getting along? Can you give us an update? Have you been able to get your itching under control and have the ERCP's helped? It's true you can tell a lot with an MRCP but the ERCP will bring some quality of life relief and allow the bile to flow until your liver gets to a point that it's starting to get in really bad shape like mine did. If you have not already done so, I would recommend you start seeing a hepatologist and let him be the primary doctor overseeing the treatment of your PSC. Most local Gastro doctors just don't have the day by day experience dealing with liver disease. You really need the expertise that only a hepatologist can give. Another advantage is that he has direct contact with the transplant team and can get you on the road to being listed. I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas!
