OK I understand. She had the MRCP first and then she had the ERCP after that so I didn’t give you the right report
Is anyone else concerned about how vaccines may affect people with autoimmune diseases? I started thinking about it when the hepatolgist recommended flu shot and hepatitis b booster series for our child who has PSC and UC. Her blood work seemed to change after first hepatitis B shot. Got me thinking, if the immune system doesn’t work properly how can it react as it should to a vaccine? I then found an article online saying people with autoimmune disease should not get vaccines for this very reason! Thoughts?
McDona, we should always avoid a live vaccine. Most vaccines are dead and that is ok, but I have asked the pharmacist the last two years to confirm the flu vaccine he was about to give me was not the live one, which I think mostly comes from the nasal type.
That kind of concern is not incorrect. Main reason is that we still don’t know much about our immune system and there is no study directly addressing that issue. In science, nothing is absolutely 100%. There is nothing wrong to think that way. On the other hand, there is no direct evidence to confirm that theory either. So your choice eventually depends on the ratio of risk vs benefits.
