I am not sure I can remember you ever asking the community for a donation, but feel a routine ask is definitely warranted. I would not have even thought to donate if not asked.

Hi. I wanted to thank you for your recent generous donation. I know Ben’s Friends was a great lifeline for me personally when I was battling PSC. The support I received during those years was a great help and encouragement to me. We want to keep all of our communities open and continue to provide the support needed to all of our 40+ rare disease communities. It does take close to $3,000 a month to keep everything going with most of that going to our fees for websites, domains, and other IT-related costs. We do pay a small honorarium to several of our staff but most of our moderation is done by volunteers. None of us are in it for the money for sure, but it continues to be a privilege to serve.
