My husband had his liver transplant about 3 weeks ago. He has been having recurrent ascites where he needs to get paracentesis almost daily because his fluid is reaccumulating so fast. The docs suspect removing his spleen will solve the problem. Has anyone else had a problem with quickly recurring ascites post transplant with any other solutions? Or has anyone had a splenectomy that they could comment on? This is the only option that they think will help at this point. All his liver function tests look fine and no strictures within the surrounding vasculature.
