My son has been prescribed vancomycin in powder form, 3 x a day. I am trying to figure out if it’s possible to put the powder into capsules myself. Has anyone done this? Thanks.

Hi Leonora. My daughter (16 yrs old) has been taking vancomycin in the powder form for the past 4 years now. We dissolve it in drinking water (from the bottle). The IV powder vials are 500mg and we fill in the powder vial with 3/4 water, or you can just dissolve it in water into a tablespoon. It’s working as well as the capsule. Daniela
